Cartoons

From the sketchbook

Pencil and ink, drawn by hand in the style of the TV cartoons of the 2000s: dogs, owls, faces, and the odd pattern when the pen won't stop.

Pencil drawing of two cartoon dogs: a small one with its tongue out looks up at a bigger, worried one with a thought bubble. Pencil sketch of a young man in a backwards cap and hoodie. Sticky-note doodle of a sleepy, heart-faced owl. Pen sketch on a green sticky note of a grinning character named Riyaz with spiky hair. Pencil portrait of a man in a cap with a goatee. Pencil pattern of swirls and bubbles.

AI workflow building

Point the AI at a real job, then check its work.

Phoenix builds AI-integrated apps, with AI assistance: writing the spec, steering Claude through the build, and putting a person's check on every step. Lately the work has turned to testing where those checks break.

AI-integrated apps

Desktop and web apps with an AI assistant built in, designed so the person stays in charge: the model proposes changes, each one shows as a tracked edit to accept or reject, and every decision is kept on record.

Does the AI obey the manuscript?

An evaluation, in Python, of whether an AI copy editor follows instructions hidden inside the text it is editing: six kinds of planted instruction against three common defenses, scored without a second AI as judge. Results to follow.

Video to study workbook

A pipeline that turns a recorded lesson into a printable study workbook: a digest of the talk, then questions that move from understanding to analysis to applying it, with a review editor before anything prints.

Rolling Stone Home Inspections

Know your home, and keep it that way.

Most inspections stop on closing day. Rolling Stone gives every client a maintenance plan they will actually use: what to fix now, what to plan for, and what to keep an eye on. Current owners can come back each year for a check-up.

Booking opens soon.

  • Pre-purchase inspectionFor buyers, to the Washington Standards of Practice.
  • Maintenance inspectionFor current owners: a yearly check-up and a prioritized maintenance plan.
  • Re-inspectionA return visit to look at completed repairs. Separate, limited scope.

A home inspection reports the visible condition of a home on the day of the visit. It is not a warranty, insurance, or a code inspection.
